Introduction
The Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation (also known as the State Department of Assessments and Taxation, or SDAT) is a customer-focused agency that works to ensure property is accurately assessed, business records are appropriately maintained, and necessary tax-related information is conveyed to state agencies and local jurisdictions. The Department's responsibilities can generally be split into three main areas: Business Services, Real Property Valuation and Property Tax Credits.

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this role is to provide support as an Executive Assistant to the Deputy Director and general assistance to the Director's Office, including support to the Assessments Office, Housing Services and Business Services Units.
POSITION DUTIES
Support and assist the Deputy Director as needed. Provide general office duties to the Director's Office as needed.
Read, research, compose, finalize, and distribute written correspondence.
Maintain files, calendar, appointments, messages, and correspondence records.
Prepare and submit expense reports, travel logs, purchase requests, user access forms, and timesheets.
Assist with reporting and information and data requests.
Use Microsoft and Google Suites and internal programs. Maintain confidentiality with sensitive issues and materials.
Answer and/ or direct calls and emails to the appropriate destination.
Resolve customer service and applicant issues with their Representatives or Elected Officials.
Handle customer service escalations. Compile and review Customer Comment cards, surveys, and reports.
Maintain awareness of public information efforts, telephone mgmt., mail services, and records mgmt.
Maintain list of accomplishments and needs for SDAT units. Arrange travel, conference registration, and event scheduling.
Assist with conference booth and presentation preparations.
Create pamphlets, fliers, and other information sharing materials as needed or assigned.
Coordinate activates supporting the annual Maryland Charity Campaign.
Assist with updating SDAT's website and social media accounts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five years of experience providing administrative or secretarial support in an office environment.
Note: Candidates may substitute the possession of an associate's degree for two years of the required experience. Candidates may substitute the possession of a bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience employing clerical policies, procedures, and operations.
Experience using office equipment efficiently.
Experience using computer software applications, such as word processing, database, and spreadsheets and managing calendars.
