We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Mortgage Loan Officer to join Homewise. The primary mission of this role is to use independent judgment in counseling and assisting mortgage loan applicants in securing an affordable mortgage. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for carrying out the following duties:
Initiate relationships with customers within 24 hours of referral. Coordinate the gathering, ordering, and copying of all necessary information, including income verification, asset verification, credit profile, and other supporting documentation to complete a loan application. This may include Title Binders, Appraisals, and Verifications of Employment.Review all information provided by the customer and evaluate the applicant's financial situation to determine loan eligibility. Work with the Processor to review supporting documentation.Recommend appropriate loan structures to access the lowest cost funding sources while maximizing Homewise resources.Exercise judgment in recommending approval or denial of loan requests and deciding the best loan programs for customers.Inform all applicants of their credit decisions, rates, and terms. Where applicable, inform them of affordability based on credit analyses and/or resolution of credit problems.Promptly inform all relevant parties, including customers, Realtors, Home Selection Counselors, Real Estate Development staff, and others, of any change in the status of a customer's qualification or application.Complete application, consumer loan disclosures, and customer checklist. Transfer client information to the Processor within 5 days of borrower assignment.Counsel customers with minor credit problems.Attend closings regularly to provide support to borrowers.Use Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter, Calyx Point loan origination system, DocVelocity aka ICE DDA, STARS (Salesforce), and Microsoft Office to maintain various reports. Maintain organized files for easy research by others.Participate in setting team goals and objectives annually.Work closely with other internal departments to ensure best practices in customer service.Comply with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.Expected Outcomes
Achieve individual and team goals for first mortgage loans closed and refinance and home improvement loans closed, as applicable.Display a high degree of customer service and responsiveness when working with customers and business contacts.Manage the pipeline of customers so that each customer's home purchase mortgage loan closes on the original date specified in the Real Estate Purchase Contract, with extensions only due to events beyond Homewise's control.Requirements
Bilingual in English and Spanish:
Due to the number of Spanish-speaking clients we serve, it is crucial that the Mortgage Loan Officer is fluent in both English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing.Customer Service:

High school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of two years' experience in mortgage lending or a related field is requiredState of New Mexico Mortgage Loan Originator licenseAbility to serve Spanish-speaking clients in Spanish requiredWork Schedule
100% on site.Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.Physical Requirements
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require lifting files, opening filing cabinets, and bending or standing as necessary.Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 poundsMust be able to maneuver around various client business offices and workspaces.
