Job Description
PreAnesthesia Testing RN is responsible for promoting continuity of patient care for surgical patients. Coordinates findings from clinic visits and phone screenings to anesthesia providers, ensuring patients are properly screened prior to surgery.
Department: Pre-Surgical Clearance Clinic
Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday 7am-4pm
Required: IL RN license, Associates Degree in Nursing; BLS within 90 days of hire
Pay: Based on experience, starting at $30.56
* Possible option for remote work after a designated period
Responsibilities
Assesses patients' conditions and care delivery through direct observation, rounding, and data input from other team members., Assessment- Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient's health or the situation. Recognizes normal and abnormal findings when gathering data. , Collaborates with peers to guide and direct policy and procedure reviews and revisions as necessary., Consults and collaborates with nursing and other disciplines to assure appropriate patient/family education., Consults with Anesthesiologists and coordinates preoperative orders for testing and consultations with other disciplines., Contributes to the quality of patient care and nursing practice through a collaborative approach to patient care and its documentation., Coordination of Care- Plans and evaluates care in collaboration with appropriate disciplines for assigned patients., Demonstrates adherence to organizational and department specific safety standards and guidelines., Demonstrates adherence to organizational and department specific safety standards and guidelines.
, Evaluation- Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes. Reports data and outcomes to as appropriate to physician and/or other disciplines., Implementation - Implements care and supervises care delivered by other team members in alignment with the plan of care and approved safety and infection control standards., Knowledge - In collaboration with Leader/Director, actively pursues required knowledge and skills through orientation activities specific to the unit, unit based in-service programs, reading current literature and seeking new clinical learning opportunities. , Outcomes Identification - Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation., Performs preoperative anesthesia evaluations and advises Anesthesia providers of findings. , Planning - Develops a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes., Relationships - Establishes effective working relationships with peers, physicians, and other members of the health care team. Identifies and confers with appropriate resources regarding patient care decisions., Responsible for ensuring consistent compliance with Joint Commission standards, Illinois Department of Public Health and other appropriate regulatory agency standards. , Responsible for evaluation of operational outcomes related to preoperative assessment , Serves as a liaison between patient, anesthesia, surgical services, surgeons, consultants, ancillary departments and physician office staff. , Teaching - Employs teaching strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
