CNC Programmer - Lathe

This position will utilize best practices to develop, modify and prove out efficient CNC Esprit programs for short run, high complexity and close tolerance machined components. Determines the routing sequence, required tooling and processes to achieve the most efficient method of machining, ensuring on-time delivery of quality components to the build area. Maximize utilization of machine and technology capabilities (dual pallets, Vericut, etc.) Assist with setup of machines and training of operators as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
*Analyzes detailed manufacturing drawings to determine the most effective and efficient means for machining in a short run, close tolerance (.0005") environment. Reviews new components for best machining practices, routing sequence, setup planning and program planning.
*Evaluates new manufacturing technologies for enhanced machining (tooling, work holding, workflows, etc.)
*Writes and debugs programs utilizing model from Solidworks and programming tool paths and part programs in Esprit and/or MasterCam.
*Utilizes available technology (Zoller, Vericut, etc.) to ensure a run-ready program to maximize unattended machining capabilities.
*Prepares documentation for setup and operation.
*Reads and interprets CAM posted G and M code and modifies as needed on a variety of machine controls (Okuma, Heidenhain, Fanuc, Toshiba).
*Continually challenges existing processes (setup, programming, tooling, inspection, etc.) for improvement/enhancement opportunities.
*Communicates with others in the department and cross-departmentally to coordinate downstream operations of parts.
*Participates in complex or new setups and trains staff.
*Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
*3-5 years experience programming complex machine parts in close tolerance, low volume environment with setup and operation of precision CNC machining equipment (lathe preferred) with various controls in a job shop/manufacturing environment; minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
*Demonstrated high productivity through the use of good planning and technology (Esprit experience preferred)
*Demonstrated success utilizing complex machining software and a genuine desire to adopt change to improve throughput.
*Attention to detail and a desire to maintain high standards of workmanship
*Possesses own quality inspection and hand tools
*Excellent work ethic, ability to self-direct, prioritize work and multi-task, organized thought process with a very high attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
*Occasionally required to lift 25 pounds unassisted
*Occasionally stands and moves throughout shop
*Regularly sits throughout the day
*Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, reaches and carries
*Regularly utilizes depth perception, peripheral vision and close focus.
