Sterile Processing Technician

Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments. This role involves operating processing equipment and ensuring that all instruments are properly cleaned and prepared for use, in accordance with established protocols.
Key Responsibilities:Decontaminate surgical instruments following manufacturer's instructions or guidance from the department supervisor or manager.Operate decontamination equipment effectively and safely.Inspect instruments post-decontamination to verify that all items are clean, intact, functional, and accounted for.Assemble instrument trays to ensure device sterility and accessibility for the end user.Utilize count sheets to accurately assemble trays.Interface with the department tracking system for all processing functions.Package or containerize instrument sets in compliance with manufacturer's guidelines and standards.Load sterilizer carts to prevent puncturing or compromising packaged items, following recommended loading procedures.Conduct daily sterilizer tests on all sterilizers to ensure proper functioning.Operate sterilizers per manufacturer's instructions, ensuring that every load undergoes biological monitoring.Document all load contents, interface with the tracking system, confirm load cycle parameters, and record all pertinent information.Unload sterilizers carefully, ensuring items are not compromised, and store them according to tracking system storage locations.Maintain cleanliness in the department and all processing equipment.Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of experience in Central Sterile Processing Department (CSPD) preferred.Certifications:
CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician), CBSPDT (Certified Biomedical Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician), and CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) preferred.
