The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The incumbent will provide clerical support in a busy Anatomic Pathology service unit. Will perform a number of clerical duties pertaining to the processing of Slide Send out requests presented by various requestors ex. patients, law offices, clinical trails and research. Will handle incoming phone calls, facsimiles and mail pertaining to slide requests. Obtain patient release authorization forms/consents and applicable processing fee. Request re-cuts selected by the Pathologist on key slides from Histology lab. Prepares packaging for shipping; completes research slides using electronic bar-coding and tracking system. The incumbent will also be responsible for transporting surgical specimens, requisitions slides, blocks, documents to/from offsite warehouse and throughout the medical center. Performs other duties necessary to the functioning unit.Responsibilities35% - Processing of Slide Send out requests presented by various requestors e.g. patients, law offices, clinical trails and research documents data in Copath and applicable databases.35% - Will handle incoming phone calls, facsimiles and mail pertaining to slide requests. Minimum QualificationsTwo years of college or completion of secretarial school or equivalent business experience plus a minimum of two to three years of related experience.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree desirable.Knowledge of Copath, EPIC, Word, and Excel preferred.
Other RequirementsAbility to work independently and accurately in a fast paced environment.Excellent interpersonal communication skills.Medical terminology is required.Must have excellent computer skills.Must be able to walk up to 5 miles a day.
