Position SummaryThe Department of Neurology at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center is currently seeking a Secretary B.ResponsibilitiesThe Secretary B will be responsible for performing typical medical office administrative duties including but not limited to answering phones, taking messages, scheduling appointments, and tests, obtaining results, and filing and/or scanning results.Using EPIC (EMR), the Secretary B will check-in/check-out patients who arrive at the practice.Verify insurance, collect associated copays, and assist physicians in running the day-to-day front-end operations of a busy practice.Other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsRequires two years of college or completion of secretarial school or equivalent business experience, plus a minimum of one or two years of related experience.
Preferred QualificationsThe candidate will have had experience working in a busy medical practice.Possess excellent customer satisfaction skills as demonstrated during past experience.Proficiency working with EPIC (EMR) is preferred. Bilingual Spanish English fluency preferred.
Other RequirementsOrganizational skills are imperative, to keep track of several different tasks and sometimes work under limited supervision.Reporting to and working with the Practice Managers, the successful candidate will be detail-oriented, and able to work under strict deadlines to assist in the completion of tasks related to patient visits including the submission of all charges.Ability to utilize systems after training.Typing 55-60 WPM.Must complete systems training requirements
