The Jockey Truck Driver shall operate in the functions of transporting material in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty and noisy environment.Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
1.Qualifications:
1.1.Basic English reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
1.2.Manual dexterity required for operating, machinery.
1.3.Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and Jockey Truck operation experience.
1.4.Must be able to work with a flexible or rotating schedule which may require over-time and weekends when needed.
2.Responsibilities:
2.1.Check vehicles to ensure that equipment is in good working conditions.
2.2.Load and unload trucks per BPU policies and procedures.
2.3.Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products.
2.4.Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
2.5.Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs as needed.
2.6.Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
2.7.Secure cargo for transport using straps and four feet pipe stakes, at least two pipe stakes on each side.
2.8.Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
3.Activities:
3.1.Employee must report to Yard Lead-Man for briefing on daily tasks.
3.2.Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.
3.3.Perform 5 racks verification daily.
3.4.Complete the PIT checklist on a daily basis.
3.5.Other duties as assigned.
4.Authority and Obligation:
4.1.This position has the authority to stop Jockey Truck operation at any time that is deemed necessary for reasons of safety.
