About the job
Turning Point Brands is seeking a Brand Manager for the Zig-Zag brand. Zig-Zag is a world-famous brand, with a proud heritage of leadership dating to 1879 and is the leading premium paper in both the United States and Canada, today. Over the past decade, Zig-Zag has successfully expanded its consumer base into new product categories such as cigar wraps, hemp paper, and paper cones. Most recently, the brand has continued to grow and expand into alternative channels, such as dispensaries. This role reports to the Vice President, Marketing & Creative, but will work closely with numerous cross-functional partners and is responsible for setting brand strategy and execution.
Essential Functions
- Oversee the development and execution of the annual marketing plan to ensure growth targets (share, volume, financial performance) are achieved, while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Accountable for understanding, monitoring, and influencing revenue performance for the brand.
- Build plans that are consumer-first with an understanding of the full picture of brand building (the Ps).
- Build an integrated marketing communication plan and overall brand strategy with key internal stakeholders; prioritizing the rapid increase of brand awareness, trial, and repeat.
- Strong P&L influence inclusive of sales forecasts/projections, COGS optimization, and resource allocation.
- Guide the creative executions that build brand equity based on brand positioning, campaigns, vision statement, and core strategies.
- Leverage category trends and consumer insights to build brand plans that continue to grow this iconic brand.
- Evaluate the competitive landscape and ensure the brand is effectively competing.
- Oversee the in-market product offerings and determine portfolio optimization to ensure we are maximizing top and bottom-line growth while minimizing cannibalization.
- Work with Product Development to align on commercialization and go-to-market plans of incremental line extensions and/or new products.
- Partner with Sales on sharing brand initiatives and priorities, in-store programming, customer sell-in presentations, and education materials.
- Support Marketing Services team with creative input and alignment, as needed.
- Partner with Creative team to drive break-through creative work with a concentration on building brand awareness, equity, and establishing key points of differentiation.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure strong business plans and execution.
- Provide regular updates on assigned brand(s) to senior management.
- Manage staff of 2-5 including recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, supporting, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Marketing or related subject.
- 5 to 8 years Brand Management experience, ideally in a CPG company.
- People management experience.
- Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations, which the company will assist in and coordinate training.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
- Nielsen/IRI experience.
- Ability to travel 15% of the time.

The pay range for this role is between $120,000 to $140,000 a year.
