Controller / Vice President
A prestigious family office with a diverse portfolio of businesses is seeking a highly skilled Controller / Vice President to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with the family office principal and to oversee the firm’s accounting, reporting, and human resources activities across its businesses. In addition to a law firm, the family office owns commercial real estate properties and hospitality assets.
Key Responsibilities
Developing financial reporting including budgeting and forecasting
Generating financial analysis as needed
Supervising bookkeepers and accounting across businesses
Evaluating and improving accounting and payment security practices
Working with outside tax accountants to complete quarterly and annual tax preparation and to identify tax issues and tax saving opportunities
Coordinating payroll and other human resource compliance functions
Administering other key office functions including insurance and private investments
Leading “one-off” projects which support the strategic direction of the family office
Qualifications
Minimum ten years’ accounting and financial analysis experience
Ability to work independently and creatively solve problems
Integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
Experience supervising accountants and bookkeepers as well as interfacing with third-party tax accountants
Ability to gather data, perform analysis, and make recommendations
Strong communication skills
Smart, curious, and enthusiastic about learning new things
Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
Ideally, the candidate will have experience in or exposure to real estate, hospitality, or law firms.
Compensation
Sign-on bonus. $175,000 to $250,000 plus bonus and benefits.
Location / Hybrid Work
This full-time role requires three days a week in-office on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco.
