Position Summary
Data EngineerInformation TechnologyFull Time
Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop procedures for moving operational data into data repositories used for reporting and data analysis employing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools such as SSIS and Alteryx to automate data pipeline servicesImplement and document needed data mappings and transformations between data sources and data repositoriesIncorporate error checking and alerting procedures to ensure failed procedures are caught and corrected in a timely mannerDevelop and support stored procedures and SQL views and queries needed for data access, cleaning and transformations. Implement methods to improve data reliability and qualityWork with the Office of Institutional Research to identify existing operational data sources to support the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and help develop database schemas and data models to support longitudinal data analysisImplement data access controls to support least privileged access policies for data supporting operational and strategic data usesWork with clients and the Office of Institutional Research to help develop needed reports and data dashboards; Use tools such as SSRS and Power Bi to develop and support reports and dashboards; Implement data models supporting data reporting needsWork with campus leadership to identify database platforms, data reporting and analysis tools, and data ETL systems that support campus data management needs and align with evolving technologiesRequired Qualifications
Master's degree in computer science or related field or a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field along with four years of relevant experienceExperience in data ETL processes and tools such as SSIS or AlteryxExperience developing queries and views in SQLExperience in reporting data using tools such as SSRSExperience with data visualization tools such as Power BiExperience using database systems such as MS SQL Server or SnowflakeExperience working in a team environmentAbility to effectively communicate technical procedures and concepts, both in writing and verbally, to individuals without a technical backgroundDemonstrated experience and understanding of customer serviceRequired Information & Deadline
