Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1. Set up; operate manual machine centers. (Specifically lathes, mills).

2. Available for customer breakdown at a moment's notice/evening and night work/OT required. One needs to be reliable and dependable to come through for our customers' breakdown repair jobs.

3. Assist in the decision-making process of future machine and tooling purchases.

4. Maintenance, repair, general upkeep of machines.

5. Maintaining healthy tooling inventory/ interacting directly with tooling suppliers.

6. Meets with project managers and communicates status as required.

7. Meets with customers to review specifics of machining requirements on a job-by-job basis.

8. Maintains and cleans area for a safe work environment.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

•Requires education/training generally equivalent to an associate degree.

•Requires 5-7 years of machinist experience; must have manual lathe/mill machining experience.

•Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform geometric algebraic and trigonometric calculations.

•Must be creative and innovative when it comes to problem solving as related to machine setup/machining.

•Must be able to work nights/weekends for customer breakdowns as required (typically 10-12 times a year).

•Must be comfortable working with larger size machined parts on larger lathes.

•Must perform metric conversions.

•Requires good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees.

•Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and routings.

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is occasionally required to walk, use foot/feet to operate machine, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach above shoulders and move from place to place. The incumbent will regularly stand, sit and talk and listen and will frequently use hands to finger, handle or touch. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

During the performance of his/her work duties, the incumbent will be required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and will frequently lift up to 25 pounds such as moving parts from material storage and moving parts in and out of work area.

The employee works in a factory environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. He/she is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
