Chicago, IllinoisWe are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for
Connectivity & Hardware Support Engineers
to join a dedicated team working across multiple client sites. This role involves delivering essential support for
cabling infrastructure
and
network hardware , ensuring seamless operations at various data centres and office locations. Your expertise will be essential in areas such as
patching, break-fix support, circuit provision , and
hardware installations . Youll be responsible for maintaining the highest level of service delivery standards while working under the supervision of the Service Delivery Manager.For this role candidates will need to:Be able to work on multiple client sites across allocated regions.Be available for out-of-hours working, being part of an on-call rota to include weekends and evenings as business demands.Work the following hours:
Monday to Friday, a mixture of early shifts (7 am to 4 pm), mid shifts (11 am to 8 pm), and/or late shifts (2 pm to 11 pm)Key Responsibilities:Monitor the
clients ticket system
and ensure all tasks are completed in line with SLAs.Audit and document
existing cabling installations and desktop configurations, including power and patching setups.Create
patching schedules
as needed, utilizing
Cable Management Software .Conduct
disconnection/reconnection of desktop equipment , ensuring proper labelling for smooth operations.Perform
IMAC-D
tasks (Install, Move, Add, Change, Dispose) on desktop equipment and peripherals.Perform
data wiping activities
using specialized software tools.Execute various types of
patching/jumpering
for voice and data cabling, both copper and fiber.Test and troubleshoot
Copper and Fibre Cabling Infrastructure
using continuity testers, tone generators, and modern standards testers.Manage
Copper Voice and Data terminations
based on the clients cabling systems.Maintain
accurate records
of stock usage and report any shortfalls to the line manager.Conduct surveys and
update technical drawings
and schedules as required.Install and test
analogue, digital, and VOIP phone handsets , offering headset support where necessary.Build, Rack, and Stack
Network and Server Hardware in Data Centers, ensuring proper connectivity.Handle
Network Hardware break-fix activities , such as replacing power supplies, modules, and fans.Skills & Experience Required:Proven experience in
Voice and Data Cabling
environments.Experience in a
Moves, Adds, and Changes (MAC)
environment.Strong understanding of
modern network infrastructure
and the ability to work with
LAN/WAN and Active devices .Extensive knowledge of
fibre and copper voice/data cabling , including testing, termination, and the use of relevant equipment.Familiarity with
Rack and Stack
systems for servers and network hardware.Competence in using
Service Now
and other asset management/process tools.Strong knowledge of
Server Patching
and
Copper Voice and Data terminations .Experience in using
hand-held Cable Standards Testers , light source, and power meters.Ability to work with complex systems, ensuring operational excellence and safety standards.This role is ideal for a hands-on, technically skilled individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
