ResponsibilitiesThe employee will provide direct support in performing machine shop operations such as sawing, turning, milling, grinding, and heat treatment of metallic and non-metallic materials.Manually operated and CNC machines made accessible for the job tasking requirements include but are not limited to: lathes, milling machines, cutting saws, tool and cutter grinders, surface grinders, drill presses, heat treatment ovens, layout and measuring tools along with general hand operated equipment associated with the machinist trade.Support in this area will include numerous tasks which are dissimilar in nature, but have in common machining and assembly of metallic and non-metallic materials / components to make completed assemblies per blueprints in accordance with assigned print tolerances. This task includes direct support in performing.Machining support, such as but not limited to; gathering required materials, blue print reading, laying out parts to include figuring feeds and speeds rates, ability to use precision measuring devices, and determining what equipment is necessary to complete the task.The Employee shall be required to comply with Shop policy concerning regular work area cleanliness and weekly cleanups.The Employee shall receive written work assignments from the Machine Shop Work Leader or his designated representative.The Employee shall be responsible for receiving and reviewing blueprints and materials for possible discrepancies, error or omissions that will be necessary to complete assembly.The Employee will be familiar with shop related math, knowledge of metals, blue print reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerance Standards as deemed necessary by the Branch Head, Code E, or designated representative.Qualifications
