The Development Manager will ideally be based in Southern California and work remotely.
The Development Manager will be joining CORE during a time of exponential growth as we build out our national fundraising strategy. We are looking for a candidate with a visionary and entrepreneurial approach that is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment to support an international development strategy. The Development Manager (Corporate & Foundation Relations) will work closely with the Associate VP of Development to support the corporate engagement strategy and oversee grants as well as manage and integrate teams across multiple geographies to create maximum impact.
As a valued member of the Development Department, the Development Manager will be part of the frontline fundraising team, identifying new funding sources (including capital, program, and endowments) to support a $12M+ department, with expectations for significant growth over the next 3 years.
Responsibilities:
Support a multi-year fundraising plan in collaboration with the following departments – Communications & Marketing and Partnerships & Programs – to ensure there is a comprehensive and consistent strategy aligned with CORE’s strategic plan.
Identify and research new grant opportunities that match the goals and objectives of the organization.
Prepare and submit all grant applications and reports within deadlines that include a full range of activities such as writing/editing letters of intent, concept notes, presentations and progress reports.
Cultivate strategic partnerships – both corporate and foundation – to generate a sustainable pipeline of prospects. This excludes relationships, as well as donors, who are government agencies, diplomatic and political organizations.
Cross-collaborate among different departments to write compelling grant proposals for individual, family, and corporate foundations.
Using a data-driven approach, identify and strengthen a robust pipeline of prospects and corporate partners to support sustainable revenue generation in emerging areas.
Collaborate with colleagues across the country to implement a strategy for pursuing collaborative joint funding opportunities across international, national, regional, and local levels.
This position will also feed into ongoing emergency response efforts through identifying and activating fundraising strategies.
Coordinate and support other activities including special events, annual and capital campaigns, and specific program fundraising as identified.
Perform database administrative tasks such as updating contact records, preparing acknowledgement letters, and donation receipts.
Day-to-day activities can include drafting and sending acknowledgement letters to donors, updating internal and external databases and registries, and data entry.
Develop marketing and communications materials while writing fundraising and corporate sponsorship pitch decks, proposals, and grants.
Maintain a database and establish protocols and organize best practices for Salesforce - including building staff capacity to increase and maximize utilization.
Track progress on development revenue lines and asks related to CORE’s programs, activities, and strategic goals. Work with the Finance team to coordinate and track all donations anticipated and received.
Fosters collaboration and communication within the department and cross-functional teams within the organization to ensure that fundraising initiatives are clear and there is a shared understanding of our programmatic vision.
Additional responsibilities and duties as necessary or as requested by the Vice President of Development.
Scope and Travel:
Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in business administration, business development, nonprofit management and development, client service, account management or related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of grant writing experience, marketing/communications, corporate social responsibility, client account management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience, preferably within a high-level non-profit organization.
Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of fundraising, institutional support, and/or corporate social responsibility.
Strong attention to detail and have excellent project management and organizational skills.
Creative and energetic thinker with a passion for giving back.
Strong verbal communication, presentation, writing, and editing skills with the ability to turn complex concepts into an executable strategy for lay audiences.
Experience in building authentic relationships and the ability to connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.
Relationship with funders in the public health, climate resilience, and emergency response causes desired.
Proficient in MS Office Suite. Experience in a CRM software preferred, especially Salesforce or Raisers Edge, as well as a demonstrated ability to learn technology and systems quickly.
Skills and Competencies:
Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment to resolve issues.
Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
$72,000 - $89,000 a yearIn accordance with CA law, the expected pay range for this CA position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
