Reporting to the Senior Director of Manufacturing Strategy and Excellence, and part of the larger Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing organization (PDM), the Director of Manufacturing Excellence and Strategy will lead the development, rollout, and sustainment of the annual strategic planning process across Manufacturing sites and functions. This role is responsible for the processes supporting our One Manufacturing strategy as well as cascade of strategy down to Manufacturing Operations sites and functions via the annual process. This role is accountable for introduction and continuous improvement of strategy processes across manufacturing, collaborating closely with all Manufacturing functional groups and other PDM/Gilead stakeholders.Focus Areas
Lead activities to advance One Manufacturing StrategyPartner with and engage Manufacturing Strategy teams in strategy development.Ensure appropriate cascade of communication across the organization to ensure strategies are well-understood and staff connect the strategy with their work.Manage ongoing sustainment and track metrics that demonstrate progress towards the overall vision.Lead and support projects to improve support of our commercial Products, advancement of our Pipeline, and growth of our People.Prioritize projects aligned with our strategy to have the greatest impact, and ensure projects deliver intended benefits that move the needle.Sustain and continuously improve annual strategic planning processes across Manufacturing OperationsDefine and sustain annual processes related to One Manufacturing strategy, partnering closely with the Senior Director and the rest of the Manufacturing leadership team.Partner closely with all stakeholders to establish standard framework for the strategy cascade and annual strategic planning for all Manufacturing sites and global functions.Ensure alignment of strategic focus, goals, and KPIs up and down the organization while empowering site and functions to own work in their areas.Partner with functions, Finance, and HR to ensure alignment between functional strategic planning, budgets, and annual people processes.Continuously improve ways of working based on changing business needs.Support strategic alignment across multiple levels of the organization by relentlessly communicating, collaborating, and seeking diverse input.Manufacturing Strategy & Excellence operations and activitiesParticipate in defining and building out ways of working together with the rest of the team.Engage in operations or operational excellence activities consistent with business need.Partner closely with the Senior Director to build out operations with focus on development and mentorship of junior staff.Qualifications
Primary degree in Business, Science or Engineering discipline with a minimum of 12 years professional experience or a Master’s degree and a minimum of 10 years experienceDemonstrated expertise developing, implementing, and executing strategic plans and processes within a Manufacturing organizationDemonstrates all of Gilead’s core values, with a particular emphasis on Inclusion and TeamworkDemonstrates all of Gilead’s leadership accountabilities, with a particular emphasis Creating InclusionAble to navigate and lead change in a highly matrixed environmentAble to understand complex situations and navigate to desired resultsEffective communication and influence skills, both written and verbal. Able to tailor messages to different audiences up and down the organization.
