Position Summary:

The Senior Director will develop, implement and monitor the system-wide diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging strategy that serves the colleagues and clinicians of Hartford HealthCare. This includes efforts to improve colleague experiences; recruit, retain and develop a diverse and inclusive workforce; and create a comprehensive DEIB learning strategy. As a leader within the Hartford HealthCare Center for Equity, the Senior Director will create, share and advance best practices that embed equity across the Center's domains of clinical, colleague, and community.

Key Accountabilities:

Serves as key partner to system and equity leaders in planning and strategy development - helps define needs, structures, approaches, and activities/interventions, and identifies resources necessary to support strategy deployment.

Provides strategic direction and integration across a complex and diverse integrated delivery system to strengthen the system's culture such that all colleagues can do their best work.

Creates and implements learning opportunities and workforce development as it relates to HHC's equity strategy and competencies in the areas of equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging and anti-racism.

Monitors, evaluates and improves HHC's capacity to recruit and retain a diverse workforce and partners with and advises the appropriate stakeholders regarding measurable strategies that advance our workforce diversity goals and objectives.

Works as a strategic partner with various business units, groups and colleagues to develop and implement specific programs and initiatives that improve our work culture including talent acquisition, retention, colleague engagement, individual, team and organizational development, performance management, compensation and employee relations.

Supports and develops the Colleague Resource Groups, DEIB Councils and an equity related rewards and recognition program.

Drives and enhances HHC's capacity to implement change, foster a climate of respect, and raise levels of consciousness surrounding cultural and intersectional identities, as well as implicit bias and racial microaggressions.

Serves as the internal and external representative for the system's DEIB strategies and priorities.

Qualifications

Master's degree is required.

Ten plus years of professional and managerial experience in the field of DEIB with a demonstrated track record of developing & leading DEIB strategies & programs in a large, complex organization.

Exceptional practitioner of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging methodology and principles with demonstrated success building a culture of belonging in the workplace.

Practices inclusive leadership; proactively collaborates and empathizes with others.

Willing to sit in discomfort and challenge conventional thinking.

Experience leading and implementing large-scale change management processes, leading with influence, and modeling desired leadership behaviors.

Demonstrated success at setting targets for a large-scale DEIB strategy and measuring progress.

Highly effective written and oral communicator skilled at navigating a complex, matrixed organizational structure.

Proven consensus-builder with a track record of gaining buy-in and working through competing interests.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and work through others and engage across functional domains and areas of expertise.

Critical thinker, seasoned problem-solver, flexible and responsive to feedback.
