The
Vice President & Deputy General Counsel
will be an integral part of the legal team, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary and advising LA28’s senior management on commercial, intellectual property, marketing, and content and live production matters. The successful candidate will have experience with various commercial transactions, preferably including sponsorship, licensing, value-in-kind service agreements, broadcast and intellectual property matters. This position will leverage strong negotiation, relationship-building and communication skills to lead negotiations with senior leaders and counsel at prospective sponsors and licensees.This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to increase your professional network, gain valuable legal and business affairs experience, and grow with the organization as we gear up for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games!Key Responsibilities:
Serve as legal advisor to the Chief Legal Counsel, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, senior management and division heads on identified corporate and intellectual property transactions and legal matters, including sponsorship, licensing and broadcast related transactions, and other transactional matters to support the delivery of the Games.Steady stream of analytical work, meetings, decision-making and drafting, including preparing, reviewing and negotiating all varieties of legal documents including but not limited to sponsorship agreements, licensing agreements, production-related agreements, service agreements, legal memorandums and correspondence.Supervise, monitor and assist in the career development of all subordinate attorneys and paralegals, and ensures that appropriate evaluation procedures are conducted.Works with entire LA28 legal function to continually improve delivery of legal services.Perform significant ad hoc projects / duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary.Expectations:
15+ years’ experience in broad-based transactional and commercial matters required.Concrete understanding of contract and corporate law, intellectual property law, and business transactional principles.Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including outside attorneys, senior management and business associates.Excellent judgment, knowing when to escalate issues.Excellent analytical skills; capable of identifying and prioritizing issues and providing alternative solutions.Excellent project and time-management skills and ability to manage and prioritize changing workloads to meet deadlines.Positive, team-oriented and collaborative attitude.High level of personal integrity and professional ethics; ability to maintain confidentiality.Sound judgment and decision-making skills.Experience managing junior lawyers and professionals.Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).Preferred Qualifications:
Prior in-house experience a plus.Experience in sports, media, live-events or internationally is a plus.Local candidates preferred.Education:
Undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school required.Training/Certifications:
License to practice law, be in good standing with the California State Bar and have the ability to practice law in California.Submission Requirements:
