Data Scientist
to lead a moderate-sized team in a dynamic and complex technology implementation and data analytics environment. The Data Scientist will be responsible for providing deep technical knowledge, analysis, and advice on the integration of complex IT systems and applications, as well as the operational environments that support them. This role demands expertise in advanced mathematical and statistical methods, as well as a hands-on approach to data wrangling, analysis, and optimization across structured and unstructured data sets. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of federal grant-making policies and procedures, combined with demonstrated leadership in applying data science methodologies to drive business insights and operational efficiencies.Key Responsibilities:
Lead moderate-sized data science teams through complex technology implementations and analytics projects.Provide high-level functional analysis, design, integration, and implementation of advanced IT systems.Analyze complex problems that require a deep understanding of technical applications and operational environments.Apply advanced mathematical principles and methods to compile, clean, fuse, and analyze data from multiple IT systems, addressing narrowly defined, exceptionally difficult problems.Utilize pattern-recognition techniques on large, structured, semi-structured, and unstructured datasets to automate data wrangling (extracting, transforming, cleaning, and organizing data from disparate sources).Develop and execute complex queries using SQL, involving joins, subqueries, aggregation, indices, and query optimization.Utilize programming languages such as Python, R, or SAS, as well as visualization tools like Tableau, to develop data manipulation solutions.Work across both small and large data environments, understanding the tradeoffs in scaling algorithms to different environments.Debug and optimize stored procedures as needed to ensure efficient data processing and analysis.Qualifications:
Minimum of
10 years
of professional experience in data science, including planning, conducting, and participating in complex technology implementations or data analytics projects.Expertise in SQL database query development and optimization, as well as experience with Python, R, SAS, or Tableau.Strong experience with data models, data mining, data cleansing, and segmentation techniques.Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and leading data science teams.Working knowledge of federal grant-making policies, procedures, and administration is highly desirable.Technical expertise in scaling algorithms in both small and big data environments.Ability to apply advanced mathematical principles to solve highly complex problems.Master’s Degree
in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required.
Substitution Criteria:
15 years of relevant experience with a
Bachelor’s Degree
in a related field can substitute for the master’s degree requirement.
Desirable Skills:
