Some of what you'll do:Lead and Delegate:
Assign and oversee the work of Public Benefits Specialist staff, ensuring accurate and timely processing of cash, medical, and food benefits for those in need.Quality Assurance:
Conduct thorough audits and reviews of both new and experienced staff members' work to maintain high standards and ensure compliance with policies.Continuous Improvement:
Identify error trends through audits, and proactively recommend targeted training to address these gaps.Mentorship and Support:
Act as a job coach, providing guidance, feedback, and support to your team.Optimize Processes:
Maintain and review procedures to enhance workflow efficiency.
What we're looking for:Technical Proficiency:
Deep knowledge of eligibility processes, financial regulations, and relevant software (ACES, ACES Online, Barcode, e-Jas, ICMS, Washington Connections).Regulatory Expertise:
Strong understanding of Washington Administrative Code (WAC) and procedural manuals for determining eligibility across all CSD programs.Communication & Service:
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.Quality & Productivity:
Ability to maintain high levels of quality and productivity, with strong data interpretation and analysis skills.Adaptability & Stress Management:
Ability to stay calm under pressure and effectively manage stress.Analytical Skills:
Strong ability to work with complex regulations and analyze complex situations.Continuous Learning:
Proactive in seeking clarification on rules, policies, and procedures when needed.
Who Should Apply?Professionals with:A Bachelor's or Master's degree
and
12 months of experience as a Public Benefits Specialist 3ORA Bachelor's degree or higher
and
12 months of experience as a Public Benefits Specialist 2 determining eligibility.Equivalent Education/Experience:Experience in examining/processing loan applications, medical insurance claims, unemployment insurance claims, or financial eligibility determination will substitute year-for-year for education.
Additional Requirements:Completion of the agency’s Public Benefits Specialist Training Program.Note: Relevant out-of-state experience in financial eligibility determination for public assistance will be considered.
