As we continue expanding into existing and new geographies in the Americas (AMERs), we are seeking an individual with the ability to manage and drive consistency on the portfolio of projects in the Build Sector of East America.

The

AMERs East Datacenter Portfolio Director

will direct and oversee the operational activities of the AMERs East Datacenter Development (DCD) team in alignment with East AMERS Regional Director of Construction objectives. This includes planning and overseeing construction execution, safety, policies, rules, and goals. This person will generally operate as the DCD second in command, reporting to the East AMERs Construction Lead and will focus on the operationalization of the defined strategy.

This role will supplement the East AMERs Construction Lead, enhance leadership across the Region, and provide greater bandwidth with respect to standardization and troubleshooting. The Portfolio Director will be responsible for most operational functions, health and safety, construction delivery, cost oversight, and accountable for all construction delivery across the region.

The Portfolio Director will work closely and liaise with the AMERs Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) leads and the Central functions lead to enhance innovation and promote cross-functional learnings to continue improving delivery.

Responsibilities

Assessing and minimizing risks to the business through AMERS East/LATAM Construction delivery execution strategy decisions in close collaboration with the AMERS EPC functions.

Reviewing overall construction cost management for the Region to ensure projects are performing as expected and that forecasts are accurate for additional funding requests.

Assessing and supporting the work of the sub-regional teams with respect to project delivery under the 5 main pillars of Safety, Quality, Schedule Performance, Cost Management, and Environmental/Community engagement targeting consistency across the region. Implement consequent actions to improve/recover in strict coordination with the AMER East/LATAM Regional Construction Leader.

Working in partnership with the regional supply chain to onboard new General Contractors.

Supporting the regional construction lead with effective onboarding of new employees.

Assessing and tracking the performance of the AMERS construction team and supporting the team in successfully reaching its goals.

Performing constructability reviews during the early design phase.

Monitoring delivery performance and developing plans to improve in line with strategic objectives.

Working closely with the regional scheduling lead and EPC functional team to support the development of a solid backward pass construction schedule, including understanding permit and power availability to ensure effective construction mobilization timeline and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) delivery.

Working with the cost and estimating teams to develop budgets to ensure that the projects have all the resources required to meet their objectives within agreed financial parameters.

Driving health and safety across the organization as a core value.

Empowering the DCD team with the leadership and resources they need to successfully complete delivery initiatives.

Providing support and undertaking safety walks and reviews across projects as required and on a regular basis.

In addition, the Portfolio Director will assist the AMER East/LATAM Regional Construction Leader in:

The development of the AMERS DCD short and long-term execution strategy, ensuring alignment with short-term and long-term objectives.

Working with Regional & Sub-regional leaders to support reporting such as Monthly Business Reviews (MBR), Rhythm of Business (RoB), Fundamentals, and OKRs.

Generating and driving strategies for improved delivery excellence and high predictability.

Acting as interim leadership support when regional and sub-regional leadership is unavailable to support construction decisions and managing the overall operations and resources of the AMER East/LATAM Team.

Monitoring the overall DCD performance with the AMER EPC organization and how the teams work together to achieve overall goals.

Implementing strategies, together with the EPC team, to determine the strategic direction for the Region.

Promoting a positive culture in the DCD team, developing and upholding the culture and mission/vision.

Building and maintaining trusting relationships with key stakeholders.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years related experience

OR equivalent experience.

10+ years’ experience in datacenter project, Oil-gas, Semiconductor, Bio-Pharmaceutical, critical environment or other related construction.

Preferred Qualifications

In-depth large construction projects execution experience.

Client or Contractor side onsite Datacenter construction or management experience.

Experience managing large scale enterprise projects with both localized and virtual teams.

Cross-group collaborator and influencer across teams and organizations with proven success in participating in cross-functional teams to deliver on key projects.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers to provide consistency and clarity in expectations for project delivery across AMER and all Regions Globally – Safety, Quality, Schedule, and Cost Predictability.

Construction Project Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $115,000 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $146,200 - $219,200 per year.
