Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. STRUCTURES TECHNICIAN - SPIN FORM RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Modify, repair, assemble and install complex structural parts within flight & non-flight assemblies
  • Drill, ream, countersink full-size holes in parts/assemblies, in proper sequence and to correct size using a drill motor and hand-drills
  • Set countersinking tools to proper depth as required
  • Disassemble parts and deburr holes using chip chasers, deburring tools, and files to prepare for installation of fasteners
  • Cold work holes to prepare for close tolerance fastener installation
  • Install bushings into housings using an arbor press and/or hydraulic puller
  • Install fasteners in correct sequence per drawing, using correct tools (e.g., rivet gun and bucking bar, drill motor, power screwdriver, c-squeeze, ratchet wrench, nut runner)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of structural assembly experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of large machining operations and/or precision assembly operations
  • Heat treating experience (artificial aging, solution heat treating and/or annealing)
  • Lifting & rigging experience / forklift operation
  • Able to generate charts, graphs, pivot tables, slicers and reports from a dataset and explain trends and anomalies
  • Experience utilizing different root cause analysis methods such as 5 why's, fishbone, and Pareto analysis
  • Able to perform basic arithmetic calculations accurately (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and fractions)
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Basic computer hardware competency, including connecting peripherals, network cables, printer configuration, wireless troubleshooting
  • Experience with drilling, reaming, honing and countersinking straight and close tolerance holes
  • Experience using various types of hand tools and/or hand-held power tools, floor-mounted power tools and precision measuring tools on structures materials
  • Able to adapt to constantly changing work assignments and fast paced work environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Willing and able to work all required shift hours as well as overtime on normal business days, weekends, holidays etc. as necessary by the production schedule
  • Able to perform the following for long periods of time: standing, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, twisting, and stretching are generally required to perform the functions of this position
  • Willing and able to tolerate loud noise levels, heat in order to perform the functions of this position
