Summary

The MIL Corporation is seeking a Cyber Security Vulnerability Researcher, Basic (Software Engineering, Junior Analyst) to support the daily operations of the Department of Defense (DoD) National Cyber Range Complex (NCRC). This facility supports the mission to provide realistic cybersecurity environments for test and evaluation of major DoD acquisition programs and to enable the conduct of realistic training and certification events for the DoD Cyber Mission Force. The NCRC facility may also support non-DoD customers such as Department of Homeland Security(DHS), industry, academia, and international partners. The successful candidate will serve at the Patuxent Naval Air Station, MD site.

This position currently requires an on-site schedule, with 5 days on-site. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.

Responsibilities

Conduct research into cyber threats, adversarial offensive and defensive tools, techniques, and methods, and mitigation solutions.

Develop solutions to problems in the field of computer hardware and software with a focus on system security and vulnerability.

Identify, collect, examine, and preserve evidence using controlled and documented analytical and investigative techniques.

Use data collected from a variety of cyber defense tools (e.g., IDS alerts, firewalls, network traffic logs.) to analyze events that occur within their environments for the purposes of mitigating threats.

Perform assessments of systems and networks within the NE or enclave and identify where those systems/networks deviate from acceptable configurations, enclave policy, or local policy.

Conduct independent comprehensive assessments of the management, operational, and technical security controls and control enhancements employed within or inherited by an information technology (IT) system to determine the overall effectiveness of the controls (as defined in NIST 800-37).

Analyze the security of new or existing computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs and provide actionable results.

Perform risk analysis (e.g., threat, vulnerability, and probability of occurrence) whenever an application or system undergoes a major change.

Evaluate, recommend, and implement automated test tools, and strategies; assesses, designs, and conceptualize test scenarios, approaches, objectives, plans, tools, and other state of the art technologies related to forensics and intrusion detection requirements.

Develop, research, and maintain proficiency in tools, techniques, countermeasures, and trend in computer and network vulnerabilities, data hiding, and encryption. Identifies, deters, monitors, and investigate computer, and network intrusions.

Post vulnerability assessments/penetration tests of information systems, provide analysis, draft detailed written reports and briefs.

Required Qualifications

Relevant experience working with digital forensics and cyber security

DoD 8140 CSWF certificationno later than 180 days from performance start(Security+ or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH))

Ability to interact and communicate with our clients and project/task sponsors

Work in a fast-paced, high-performance, dispersed team environment

High degree of organization and communication skills

Desired Qualifications

Certification in either Microsoft or Linux OS

Experience and knowledge of Naval Aviation acquisition programs

Experience with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office tools

Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) technologies and Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS)

Experience with malware analysis and reverse engineering tools

Education

BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science, from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution

Clearance

All applicants for this positionmustpossess a current

Secret clearance with the ability to obtain/maintain a Top-Secret

Salary at MIL is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and contractual limitations. For this position, the projected compensation range is $62,000 - $90,000 per year.
