Job Summary

Performs various duties providing professional expertise for forestry and wildlife management tasks.
The position is being hired within the Center for Natural Resources Management on Military Lands to support the
Natural Resources Management Branch at Fort Moore, Georgia . All projects are for an initial 12-month period.

Essential FunctionsCollects, records, summarizes, and/or reports forest inventory and ecological monitoring data.Assists with selecting and marking trees for sale, thinning, or disease control for designated timber stands, helps identify specific trees that are suitable for sale, thinning operations, or targeted disease control.Conducts endangered species (flora and fauna) annual monitoring and data collection, which involves monitoring and collecting data on endangered plant and animal species. Data elements collected include, but are not limited to habitat conditions, habitat age, species location, abundance, size, condition, etc.May assist with the production of presentation materials associated with the collected data, such as reports or MS PowerPoint presentations and may include information on species status, habitat conditions, and changes.Assists with prescribed burning under the appropriate supervision and while following guidelines and procedures.Plants food plots for wildlife, promoting their habitat and overall health.Assist with data collection for wildlife density and health studies, allowing for proper conservation and management strategies to be implemented.May work in dudded impact areas with an explosive ordinance escort for endangered species requirements.

Education and Experience:Level I:
Bachelor's with no relevant experience.
Level II:
Bachelor's plus 3 years of relevant experience.
Level III:
Bachelor's plus 5 years of relevant experience.
Scope of Experience:Experience in natural resource practices.This includes forest management or wildlife management.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of standard procedures and tests related to an engineering or scientific field.
Minimum Technology Skills
Minimum License and Certifications
Possession of a valid driver's license, the ability to obtain a burning certificate may be required in specific positions.
