Specialty: Med-Surg (DEPT# 300201, EOC 690002)Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Total Joints, general surgeries, gyn surgeries, general medical patients including CVA, PNA, CHF, ETOH, end of life care, COVID, etc.Experience or 'Must have' skills: General surgery experience required, total joint experience preferred but not required.Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse in the department, takes patients at a lower ratio, hospital supervisor 24/7.RT Equipment: v60 vents, cpaps and high flow nasal canula (FHNC).Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips: Yes, Central Monitoring Unit staffed with a MT at all times, two additional MT's staff ICU and PCU 24/7, RN's read strips and verify measurements and interpretation by MT.Job Requirements
ACLS, BLS required.Must have EPIC experience.Require 2.5 yrs of nursing experience, first 6 months do not count.Schedule Information
Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hour shifts, 0545-1815 and 1730-0615.Weekend Requirement: Yes, typically every other but depends on needs.Holiday Requirement: Yes.Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: Yes, 7-8.Unit Specific Information
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse in the department, takes patients at a lower ratio, hospital supervisor 24/7.Is there a call or standby requirement? No.Floating Requirements: No, but if skill set allows and RN is agreeable, then we may ask them to float to MS.Scrub Color/Dress Code: No, just clean and professional.Additional Details
HOUSING IS VERY DIFFICULT WITH PETS.Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes, insulin.Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Insulin.Unit/Department specific orientation: Yes, 1-2 shifts depending on experience and whether or not RN has been to SLMC before.
