A large system in Nebraska/Iowa are looking for Night PCU RN's.12 hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed.2 years of unit experience.Job Requirements
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required.2 years of unit experience.WILL NOT APPROVE BLOCKED SCHEDULING OR SAME SCHEDULE/SHIFTS.MUST BE FLEXIBLE AND WILLING TO FLOAT AND WORK WHEN NEEDED.Schedule Information
12 hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed.Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1830, 1830-0630 / Smart Square online schedulingWeekend Requirements: Every thirdHoliday Requirements: Rotating with perm staffFloating Requirements: Yes to MedSurg or to ICU to take PCU acuity patientsUnit Specific Information
Department: PCUBeds: 40 beds with average daily census of 24Ratios: 1:4-5 both days and nightsCommon diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults, Cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacer placement, renal failureAre RNs required to titrate drips?: YesCommon titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulinIs there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: YesAre there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes, 1:12RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: High flowAre there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: RNs must read and interpretScrub Color/Dress code: Navy BlueHow many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1 weekAdditional Details
Overhead lifts in half the rooms, portable lifts, vein finders, bladder scanner.Focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, hospital environment, and communication about medications.Looking for someone who is flexible and willing to learn as well as take feedback along the way.Different cultural populations are served on this unit - primarily Hispanic and Somalian.RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
