Critical Care nursing position available in North Platte, NE.Need for an ICU/Stepdown RN in the Critical Care Department.Job Requirements
First time traveler okay.Prefer ICU background, otherwise must have PCU background.Must be able to titrate drips.Must be comfortable taking PCU (1:4) or MedSurg (1:5) patients.Schedule Information
12Hr shifts: 545a-6p & 545p-6a.Schedule is out for 6-weeks at a time, 2 weeks in advance.Must be available at least every other weekend, if not most all weekends.Holiday Requirements: Varies, staffed into holidays as needed.Unit Specific Information
32 beds in the unit.Nurse/Patient Ratios: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, MedSurg 1:5.Common diagnoses include heavy cath lab procedures, sepsis, neurosurgery, and more.ICU: occasional IABP, Impella. Occasional peds cases go to core staff.Common titratable drips include all common critical care drips for ICU; Cardizem, insulin, pressors/inotropes, heparin, Lasix, bumex for PCU.RT Equipment: Vents, CPAP, BIPAP, heated high flow (Opti flow).Tele/Monitor Techs monitor all relevant patients, with RNs required to be able to read strips on the monitors.No tele-monitoring for ER patients.Nurse aids staffed depending on census/staffing.Additional Details
Charge Nurse on each shift to respond to all codes/rapids, and House supervisor does bed control/placement.Techs ratios: 1:8-16 (census/staffing dependent).Hospitalist in house 24/7, RT in ICU 24/7.No call or standby requirement.No floating outside of the mixed unit.
