Registered Nurse - PCU @ MedStar Georgetown University Hospital

Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: PCU Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 2 years of specialty experience required. Must have 1 prior travel assignment. License: Pending DC license accepted but must have the license prior to the start date. Certifications: BLS required. ACLS and BSN preferred. Must-Have: Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, starting IVs, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC). Job Description: - Work in a medical-surgical population unit with a variety of diagnoses.- Designated unit for thoracic surgery, handling about 5-10 cases per week.- Care for patients with conditions such as GI bleeds, pneumonia, liver failure, and CHF exacerbations.- Manage thoracic surgery patients, Le Fort patients, and AAA repair patients.- Short-term acute care facility experience preferred.- Teaching hospital experience preferred.- Handle a ratio of 1:4 in a unit with 28 rooms/beds.- Provide coverage every other weekend.- Utilize Pyxis for medication management.- Adhere to facility requirements, including the flu vaccine (no exemptions).- Willingness to accept assignments involving COVID-19 patients.- Work in a facility with a total of 402 staffed beds.- Perform charting using Cerner.- Scrubs not provided; any color without other hospital logos is acceptable.- Complete 28 hours of orientation.- Participate in mandatory modules, billable up to 4 hours, average completion time is 12 hours.- Flu vaccine required for all employees.Note: It's required to maintain flexible availability and abide by all updated facility protocols and requirements.
