**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Intermediate Medical Care (IMC)
**Job Specialty:** Intermediate Medical Care / Med Surg IMC
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
**Guaranteed Hours:** N/A
**Experience:** Minimum of 2 years of specialty experience required, including completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment.
**License:** Pending DC license accepted but must have license prior to start date.
**Certifications:** BLS (required), ACLS and BSN (preferred)
**Must-Have:**- Telemetry skills- Proficiency in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias- Experience in starting IVs- Familiarity with High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)- Willingness to work with COVID-19 patients
**Job Description:**- Provide nursing care to a diverse medical-surgical population with various diagnoses.- Management of thoracic surgery patients and medical patients including those with GI bleeds, pneumonia, liver failure, and CHF exacerbations.- Care for patients receiving Le Fort procedures and AAA repairs.- Work within a designated unit specializing in thoracic surgery, managing approximately 5-10 cases weekly.- Ensure flexibility with rotating shifts, including the possibility of alternating between day and night schedules.- Maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios, with standard coverage being 1:4.- Participate actively in a short-term acute care setting, preferably with experience in a teaching hospital environment.- Monitor medications using systems like Pyxis.- Complete required orientation hours and pre-start modules to ensure readiness for the role.- Adapt to a dynamic work environment and demonstrate professional competence and dedication to patient care.
**Additional Information:**- Scrubs are not provided; any color scrubs can be worn, excluding those with logos from other hospitals.- Charting will be done using Cerner.- COVID-19 vaccine is not required, but the flu vaccine is mandatory with no exemptions.- Successful candidates must be prepared to work weekends on a rotating basis.
