Registered Nurse Med/Surg

Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Staff Float Pool MedSurg Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 PM, 12-hour nights on a rotating schedule Guaranteed Hours: 36/48 Experience: First-time traveler: Yes, at least 18 months experience in MedSurg with EPIC or Cerner experience. At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience required. License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills- Medication administration/documentation and escalation skills- Telemetry experience is a plus Job Description: - Work in a Level II Trauma Center and Level III NICU.- Assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation.- Manage a variety of patient types across different units including General Surgery, Vascular surgeries, Neuroscience, MedSurg Oncology, Orthopedics, and more.- Patient Ratios: Generally 1:5-6, varies by unit- Skills: IV start, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, ostomy care, wound care, chest tube management, and more.- Support includes CNA, receptionist/HUC, and charge nurse.- Utilize technology such as Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, and Omnicell for medication dispensing.- Floating to like patient location within MedSurg units.- Scheduling involves weekend rotations and holiday expectations under policy guidelines.- Orientation: Comprehensive 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit.
