Surgery - Thoracic Physician

The Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Montefiore-Einstein Medical Center in New York is seeking motivated applicants for a position as a general thoracic surgeon. Eligible candidates must be board certified in Thoracic Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and be eligible for a New York State Medical License. Candidates with advanced fellowship training and greater than 3 years of experience is preferred, but not required. Lung transplant experience is a HUGE PLUS!
The candidate will be expected to treat all facets of thoracic and esophageal disease with an emphasis on the treatment and management of lung cancer using conventional as well as minimally invasive approaches.
The position requires active involvement with education of Albert Einstein College of Medicine students, general surgery residents, and both integrated and traditional cardiothoracic surgery fellows. Research opportunities exist for those interested in building an academic career leading to NIH funded research.
Based at our Moses and Weiler Campus, the department consists of 11 MDs (including 3 Advanced Pulmonary Failure Specialists), 1 dedicated NP with a back-up team of PAs to provide inpatient floor coverage. Average number of cases is 5-6 per week.
Appointment as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor of Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine will be commensurate with experience, training, academic portfolio, and teaching activities. Salary is commensurate with experience.
