Volt is immediately hiring a Machinist/Toolmaker in Austin, TX, with a well-known industry leader. In this role we are seeking an experienced machinist/toolmaker to support product development and application engineering projects/activities.
This is a first shift position.
As a Machinist/Toolmaker you will:
  • Operate a variety of manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and precision grinders to fabricate or modify metal, plastic or rubber parts, tools, or fixtures to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
  • Read and interpret design schematics, CAD drawings, verbal instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Designs jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts.
  • Translates ideas into expertly crafted components ready for use in laboratory or industrial settings.
  • Assembles completed parts and, when appropriate, evaluates the performance of the completed assemblies.
  • Inspects parts for conformance using measuring instruments such as gages, calipers, micrometers, comparators, and magnification equipment.
  • Routinely maintains equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Performs basics controls wiring

The Ideal Candidate will have:
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Associate’s / Vocational / Trade degree or higher in a science or technical discipline-OR- High School Diploma/GED and three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: machining, tool and die making, or electromechanical systems design and/or technical support.
  • Able to effectively communicate within the Technical Community.
  • CNC and manual machining experience.

Preferred Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of metalwork and mechanical engineering.
  • Detail oriented with ability to visualize structural components.
  • Strong math, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus.
  • CAD/CAM software experience.

Pay Rate: $29.00 per hour
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
