Position Type: Career & Tech/Computer specialist Date Posted: 9/19/2024 Location: Career & Technology Department Date Available: 09/19/2024 REPORTS TO: Career & Technical Education APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open Until Filled LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 226 days DATE REVISED AUG 21, 2019 WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt SALARY RANGE: $24.00 Minimum $35.27 Maximum PAY GRADE: PS8 PRIMARY PURPOSE: Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment, network and software applications throughout the district. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification/Experience: TEA certification requirements Associates' degree preferred or minimum 18 semester hours of college credit in computer related field or three years work experience related to maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing computer equipment Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals including printers, modems and scanners Ability to install and maintain network media, hardware, and workstations Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Installation: Install and upgrade computers and peripherals throughout the district. Install network cabling and network peripherals throughout the district. Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed. Install and configure software as needed. Install, configure, and maintain library networks. Equipment Repair and Maintenance: Diagnose and repair computer equipment. Service equipment according to established preventative maintenance schedule. Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service. Safety: Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, carrying, etc. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately. Other: Able to work with minimal supervision. Enforce copyrights of electronic media. Maintain effective public relations. Maintains entry of data related to work orders, mileage, etc. Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others. Performs other related duties as assigned. EQUIPMENT USED: Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installation and personal computers and peripherals including modem, printers, power-tools, etc. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Climbing, stooping, bending, and kneeling; frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment; lifting of heavy equipment (50 lbs.); frequent district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours The foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.
