This is an LTC unit; however, since it is the only LTC/Nursing Home in the PeaceHealth system, it functions more like an LTAC or step-down unit to MedSurg. We do not take trach patients, acute rehab, TPN, Bi-PAP, etc.We use a Pyxis medication system to load our Work Stations on Wheels. We DO NOT USE MedPacks which is what a lot of the LTC’s down south utilize, our Medpass process is a hybrid between a LTC/MedSurg process.Epic was designed as an acute care EMR and has been modified to accommodate LTC; however, the modifications make the charting labor-intensive.
