Our mills in Rumford, ME and Biron, WI are fully integrated paper & pulp facilities, and our mill in Fairmont, West Virginia is one of only three in the world that produces air-dried, recycled pulp. ND Paper is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring our operations comply with environmental regulations and standards, while also driving sustainability initiatives across our facilities. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in environmental engineering, a deep understanding of industry regulations, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.

This role is pivotal in ensuring our operations comply with environmental regulations and standards, while also driving sustainability initiatives across our facilities. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in environmental engineering, a deep understanding of industry regulations, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work.
- Ensure all operations adhere to federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Monitor changes in environmental laws and assess their impact on company operations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management systems to improve compliance, sustainability, and efficiency. Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure system effectiveness.
- Lead and manage environmental projects, including waste management, air and water quality improvements, and pollution control initiatives. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
- Drive sustainability projects and initiatives, such as resource conservation, energy efficiency, and reduction of environmental impact. Develop strategies to meet corporate sustainability goals.
- Provide technical expertise and support to facility operations regarding environmental engineering issues. Offer guidance on best practices and innovative solutions.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on environmental policies, procedures, and best practices. Foster a culture of environmental stewardship within the organization.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, environmental organizations, and community groups. Address and resolve environmental concerns and inquiries effectively.
- Compile and complete required regulatory reports and permits/licenses.
- Support chemical approval and product stewardship programs.

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in environmental engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or managerial role. Experience in the paper manufacturing or industrial sector is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and standards (e.g., EPA, OSHA). Proficiency in environmental management systems and software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of data-driven decision-making.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams toward achieving environmental and sustainability goals.
