About the role: Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated R&D firmware engineer. The successful candidate will participate in the design and development of medical devices. Be a part of Boston Scientific's ICTx R&D team to develop innovative products that sustain and improve the lives of patients around the world. You will use your technical and collaboration skills alongside your passion for innovation and continuous improvement to drive growth through efficient and effective development of new products. Your responsibilities will include: Designs, develops, debugs, modifies, and tests firmware, device drivers and applications using the C/C++ Programming language Documents software development by writing documents, reports, memos, change requests. Methods used are determined by approved procedures and standards Tracks software development effort by creating and maintaining records in the approved tracking management tool. Analyzes, evaluates, verifies requirements, software and systems by using software engineering best practices. Investigates, researches, selects software designs, operating systems and/or practices. Continuously improves process and work methodologies by interfacing with peers/cross-functional groups and analyzing activities to improve workflow and work processes. Directs support personnel and project activities to meet project goals and timelines. Mentors other engineers in hardware and software engineering activities, methodologies and domain knowledge. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degreein Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field 5 Years of relevant work experience with BS 3 Years of relevant work experience with MS 0-3 Years of relevant work experience with PhD Experience in embedded system programming Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on C/C++ development using IAR / Keil development environments Developing and maintaining real-time C/C++ applications, kernel modules Linux operating system and RTOS experience Developing software within the medical device industry Familiar with Open Source development platforms, github, gcc, make, shell-script Familiar with issue tracking platforms such JIRA to track new features and bugs Familiar with using lab tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers Debugging custom curcuitry at the component level Capable of leading people or projects to deliver solutions Requisition ID:593115 Among other requirements, Boston Scientific maintains specific prohibited substancetesting requirements for safety-sensitive positions.
