JOB SUMMARY
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides the leadership and direction for all aspects of the Bobby E. Wright (BEW) Behavioral Health Center. The CEO will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations in the delivery of services to BEW members and will ensure that agency staff provide the highest quality, culturally competent, and evidence-based behavioral health services to members served by the agency.
The CEO must be a sound fiscal manager and inspiring leader with the ability to share the vision for the future of BEW. The CEO must be capable of working with a non-profit board of directors and developing a strong strategic plan and ensuring its implementation.
The CEO must have strong moral character, the ability to show compassion, empathy, and sensitivity to the stigma often given to those with mental health issues.
The CEO must have a powerful sense of cultural diversity and the ability to promote awareness of racial, ethnic, and social issues impacting communities of color.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop short- and long-term service and delivery strategies for planning.
Lead and motivate subordinates to ensure staff engagement with members and those within the service community.
Develop high-level management teams that effectively share agency vision and direction to all staff and the service community.
Oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired best practice results and meet all contractual and mission-driven initiatives.
Develop strong relationships with institutional organizations, resulting in contracts to fund service delivery pursuant to the mission of BEW.
Navigate BEW through the myriad changes within the mental health community.
Make high-quality investment decisions to advance BEW and increase funding from donors and service linkages.
Engage BEW Board members to ensure support, awareness, and board governance; communicate areas of need along with opportunities for growth and expansion of the BEW mission.
Analyze problematic situations within and outside the BEW service community and develop fundamental solutions that are in the best interest of members.
Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of culturally relevant service delivery.
Maintain awareness of the historical perspective of Bobby E. Wright and its impact on the mental health community.
Provide staff and culture leadership by creating and maintaining a culture of respect, trust, and openness; foster a positive work environment for every staff member to fulfill their potential.
EDUCATION, REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
Doctorate or Master’s degree (higher academic level preferred) with a background in social services, health, or mental health.
Current licensure or credentials from an accredited institution.
Proven experience as CEO or in other high-level managerial positions. Minimum of five years’ experience required.
Experience in developing short- and long-term strategic planning and implementation.
Strong understanding of finance and performance management principles.
Strong background in project management, checks, and balances to ensure accountability and enforcement.
Proven record of accomplishment in developing strategies for staff retention and career development.
