Lead Joby’s Global Trade Compliance Program to ensure compliance with Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations (EAR); Department of Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Department of State International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and US Customs (CBP) Regulations.Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of Joby’s Global Trade Compliance program, including providing guidance and assistance to the business in compliantly achieving tactical and strategic goals.Classify technology and goods for import and export, assigning ECCNs and HTS classification, draft and submit commodity classification requests, and commodity jurisdiction requests for submission to US BIS and DDTC.Establish and maintain a classification database for all Joby parts.Prepare and file deemed export and technology transfer license applications, as well as technology assistance agreements (TAAs).Update and maintain trade compliance policies and procedures.Provide internal guidance regarding import and export regulatory requirements and procedures.Provide guidance on trade compliance requirements related to government contracts.Support Joby’s subsidiary companies with import and export classification, and trade compliance policies.Support Joby’s International Shipping team in assessing the accuracy and timeliness of import filings from our Customs broker(s). Participate in QBRs, contract reviews and proposals for all trade service suppliers.Identify and lead in finding resolution to issues pertaining to Customs communications (CF28-29, 5595A etc.).Conduct daily due diligence reviews on sanction screening results, and communicate to business.Develop and conduct legal and compliance training for employees on trade compliance requirements.Maintain records and track and submit reports to various government agencies to meet regulatory requirements.Review and prepare Import/Export Control language of proposals and agreements.Interact with senior leads and project management on licensing and regulatory issues.Conduct import/export control self-assessments and related audits.Assist in analyzing and providing ongoing improvements to Joby’s import/export processes.Required

Ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of relevant experience in a Trade Compliance role.Bachelor’s degree.Must be a U.S. Person and have an active secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.Advanced degree in International Trade Law, Government Affairs, Public Policy, Business Management, or Aerospace Engineering.Wide-ranging and extensive experience and advanced knowledge in the following areas: International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and applicable industry practices and standards in import/export compliance related to government contracting.Complete knowledge of applicable industry and/or academic practices and standards related to U.S. Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) and Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) licensing, and licensing forms, guidelines and procedures, including experience in preparing, submitting and administering license applications; experience in the preparation of complex Commodity Jurisdiction requests to DDTC; understanding of the Harmonized Tariff Schedules of the United States (HTSUS); experience in classifying items on the United States Munitions List (USML) and the Commerce Control List (CCL).Subject matter expertise in understanding government regulations with a primary focus on ITAR, EAR, and Customs requirements.Strong interpersonal skills and effective oral communication skills.Excellent writing skills.Very strong attention to details.Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to read, understand, and interpret U.S. Government Regulations.Ability to multitask, context switch, and efficiently and effectively manage workload to include competing priorities and deadlines, ensuring on-time completion of activities.Strong sense of accountability and responsibility.Keen judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidential information.Desired

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $131,000 - $243,000/year.
