Our mission is to ensure the safety and well-being of youth in crisis by providing crisis intervention, information, and support 24/7 via hotline, live chat, text, email, and online forums. Headquartered in Chicago, we serve communities across the United States.
Position Summary:
The Chief Engagement Officer will lead NRS’ strategic fundraising, communications, marketing, and outreach efforts. This individual will work closely with the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team to align and implement initiatives that drive awareness, engagement, and support for NRS. This role includes overseeing brand management, communications strategies, and resource development while ensuring NRS's mission of supporting at-risk youth remains at the forefront of all initiatives. Up to 20% travel is expected for this position.Requirements:
Fundraising and Resource Development:
Lead the creation and execution of a comprehensive fundraising plan, including donor cultivation, stewardship, and management.
Collaborate with the Development Committee, CEO, and Development team to establish both short-term and long-term fundraising goals.
Oversee the development and execution of strategies for donor engagement, including volunteer management, research, cultivation, and gift processing.
Marketing and Communications:
Develop and manage an annual strategic marketing and communications plan that supports NRS’s mission across education, outreach, crisis services, and fundraising efforts.
Serve as the creative director and senior writer for organizational communication, ensuring consistency across all print and online collateral materials.
Lead social media strategies across platforms to increase youth engagement, public awareness, and fundraising.
Maintain brand integrity through messaging and marketing, internally and externally.
Outreach and Engagement:
Design and implement outreach strategies to build relationships with key stakeholders, including youth, families, service providers, and donors.
Coordinate NRS’s public awareness campaigns focused on youth homelessness, runaway prevention, and the critical need for services.
Leadership and Collaboration:
Supervise the Prevention & Outreach Coordinator, PR/Media Consultant, and Development and Communications teams.
Participate in Board and leadership meetings as well as fundraising and conference events.
Act as an organizational spokesperson, providing leadership in public relations and media opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven leadership experience, including success working with senior leadership and Board of Directors.
Strong writing, communication, and public speaking skills.
Demonstrated track record in fundraising, including grant writing and donor relations.
Experience with managing communications and marketing initiatives, including social media and web content development.
Ability to mentor and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Constant Contact, and design software (e.g., Canva, Google Analytics).
Passion for NRS’s mission and a commitment to supporting youth in crisis.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% and work occasional nights/weekends.
