Role Summary/Purpose:
The role of Vice President, Sam's Club Analytics Leader is responsible for leading an analytics team to develop analytic capabilities, optimization solutions, and actionable insights to drive profitable growth for Sam's Club credit portfolio. This will involve portfolio diagnostics, marketing planning, measurement and optimization, customer analytics, customer targeting & segmentation, Financial Forecasting, reporting, and other analytic capabilities to support business strategies and decisions across customer journey. Example strategies/decisions could include Acquisition Marketing and Lifecycle Marketing across channels, new account acquisition, Early Month on Book, customer retention, cross sell, and operational effectiveness.
This leader will closely collaborate with internal business partners and clients to support existing products and new product launches. He/she will also foster strong partnership with Analytics and Growth CoEs to develop and implement analytic capabilities, including Data Share, Portfolio Optimization and other strategic analytic capabilities. Last but not least, he/she will recruit and develop a high-performance analytic team and serve as a key member of the analytic leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic analytic leadership to support profitable growth of the portfolio.
Develop analytic agenda and roadmap to help achieve business goals for the portfolio.
Spearhead Analytics development and delivery for new product launches, value propositions, customer acquisitions, lifecycle marketing, and customer experience initiatives.
Lead analytic and cross-functional teams to design, develop, implement and monitor analytic solutions.
Propose new analytic capabilities and solutions to improve business value and customer experience.
Foster strong partnership and engagement with both the internal SYF business teams and client teams.
Effectively engage and partner with internal business teams as well as client partners at all levels, including senior leadership team.
Influence SYF and client partners to implement profitable marketing and customer strategies rooted in analytics.
Develop business case presentations and action plans to support marketing and customer strategy, including targeting recommendations, test design, product opportunities, and cost/benefit analysis to review with client and SYF business teams.
Participate in and present at business and client leadership meetings representing team and analytics organization.
Influence business strategies and decisions leveraging analytic insight.
Manage, coach and develop a team of analytics professionals.
Formulate strategy and action plan to recruit, retain and develop analytic talent.
Coach and develop analytic professionals through training and hands-on experiences.
Prioritize workflow across teams to ensure highest-quality execution and delivery of Strategic Analytics, Diagnostics, Ad-hoc analyses and MIS Reporting.
Lead analytic team to deliver complex projects from beginning to end, including ideation, data mining, insight generation, and presentation of results and recommendations.
Partner with Analytics CoE teams to develop centralized analytic capabilities and/or best practices.
Partner with CoE teams to develop and apply advanced analytics and models to optimize business outcomes.
Partner with Digital and Journey Analytics teams to develop and implement analytic solutions to improve customer experience across different channels.
Provide business requirements to capability development representing client and business.
Develop business case presentations and action plans to support portfolio strategy, including targeting recommendations, test design, cross-sell optimization, product opportunities and cost/benefit analysis to review with client and SYF teams.
Leverage in-store and world spend data to understand cardholder propensity for profitable sales and refine recommendations accordingly.
Create "test and learn" culture through ongoing learning agenda, designs of experiments, and assessment of product and targeting strategies.
Develop and execute vision for next generation of segmentation and modeling to drive profitable portfolio growth.
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Partner with different functions to optimize portfolio growth and profitability, e.g. Marketing, Finance, Credit, Business Development, Strategy, Operations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field, OR in lieu of degree, 13+ years of experience in business analytics and/or advanced analytics role.
Minimum 9+ years of analytics experience to include:
9+ years developing and implementing business and advanced analytics/Data Science to support business.
5+ years of analytic leadership/managerial experience within financial services, or credit card payments.
5+ years leading large-scale marketing and/or customer analytics projects.
5+ years of client-facing experience.
5+ years of project management skills and experience.
Demonstrated ability to manage remotely located teams in US and India.
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
Desired Characteristics:
Advanced degree in a quantitative field or MBA with Systems and Marketing specialization strongly preferred.
Financial services analytics experience CoBrand Credit Card experience preferred.
Ability to develop executable strategies, build and lead teams, articulate a clear vision, and deliver results.
Strong ability to engage with business teams and cross-functional teams.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to engage effectively with a broad range of audiences including senior business leaders, senior analytics leaders, and highly technical talent.
Ability to influence business strategies and decisions based on analytic insight; Ability to foster partnership and/or influence senior corporate decision makers.
Proven hands-on experience utilizing SAS and SQL; Experience with open-source tools such as Python and R a plus; Experience with Tableau and/or Birst a plus.
Experience with modeling/forecasting, and strong understanding of targeting and segmentation.
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau.
Experience using external data sources to drive growth for clients Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to ideate, design and lead development of analytic capabilities and solutions.
Solid understanding of credit card industry financial P&L drivers and key sensitivities, with business performance reporting experience.
Ability to synthesize/analyze complex and diverse information and to develop and recommend strategies and communicate them clearly.
Strong project management, communications, multi-tasking, relationship management and influencing skills and the ability to work independently are critical to success.
Digital marketing analytics experience a plus.
Demonstrated ability to manage complexity/ambiguity and multiple initiatives.
Advanced skills using Excel and PowerPoint.
Grade/Level: 14
The salary range for this position is
170,000.00 - 290,000.00
USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process.
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.
