Patient Ratios : 2:1

Unit staffing description: RNs and
Unit secretary/COVID runner. Total care is provided by RNs.
·
Type of equipment: Ventilators, Alaris
IV pumps, Balloon pumps, ventriculostomy drains, glucometers. Use of iMobile
phones and technology by all staff in the hospital. PPE- includes mask, face
shields, goggles, PAPR’s and hoods for our COVID-19 patients.
·
Documentation system: Meditech using
EBCD (Evidence Based Clinical Documentation)
·
Scheduling requirements: All nursing
shift are twelve hours from 7 to 7; every other weekend.
Holiday requirements
·
Floating policy: Nursing staff will
float to other Medical-Surgical Units in the hospital as needed with priority
focus on pulling to Intensive Care Units.
·
Patient Experience requirements:
Hourly rounding, bedside hand-off reporting, completion of “My Care Board”
during hand-off report; use of AIDET with a focus on compassionate connected
care.

Must have

Must
be willing to care for COVID-19 patients, ICU experience, Positive attitude,
flexibility, teamwork, desire for excellence, self-motivated, good
communication and people skills, ability to work in a diverse environment.
Advanced skills needed:
Ventilator management, critical care drip
knowledge, thorough and accurate assessment skills, and proficient knowledge
with cardiac, neuro, and respiratory systems, and Don and Doff of PPE.
Procedures performed on unit:
Intubations,
cardioversions, ventriculostomy drain placement and management, IABP
management, continual renal replacement therapy (CRRT), proning of patients.
Certifications Required:
ACLS and BLS;
TNCC a plus
Dress Code

Ceil blue scrubs

White or ceil blue scrub jacket
optional
·
If working with COVID patients, green
surgery scrubs will be provided upon arrival to unit.
