11/8/2024Job SummaryThe Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 650 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.The newly formed CAO Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence (AI CoE) coordinates all AI related work within the CAO, including managing governance, experimentation, use-case management, cloud service reviews, staff education & upskilling, and communicating with key stakeholders.The AI CoE Software Developer Intern will assist the CoE Director in all of these areas, with a special focus on AI experimentations that are specific to the House of Representatives.*Paid at an annual rate of $35,677 not to exceed 120 days** The CAO standard business hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday through Friday. This is a full-time 40-hour per week internship that will require on site attendance in Washington, D.C.Primary Duties/ResponsibilitiesThe AI CoE Software Developer Intern will lead full-stack development of various established specialized AI use-cases within the House of Representatives using a variety of cloud-based AI services. This will involve working with CAO staff and House staff to fully test the feasibility of using LLMs to gain efficiencies in House workflows.Performs other official duties as assigned.

Focus In Artificial Intelligence preferred.Candidates should have established interest and expertise in AI custom cloud development.Ideal candidate has experience building web applications using modern frameworks, including the creation and deployment of user-facing interfaces and backend web applications, database integration, cloud data storage, and deployment.Experience working in programming languages like Python, R, Matlab, etc.Experience with cloud-based data science tools such as AWS Bedrock, Glue, SageMaker, QuickSight, and Azure OpenAI Studio is preferred.Candidates should be self-starters who are comfortable working in an agile software development environment.
