Job Description:Berklee College of Music invites applications for a part-time faculty member in the Contemporary Writing and Production Department. The Contemporary Writing and Production Department includes 35 faculty members who provide specialized instruction in composition, orchestration, arranging, and production techniques, focusing on contemporary music styles and music technology tools. The department serves over 560 students in the contemporary writing and production major, the writing for television and new media specialization, and the Mediterranean music minor, as well as serving all st dents at Berklee College of Music in the arranging core courses.The ideal candidate is an experienced composer and arranger for contemporary vocal ensembles and a dedicated teacher who will actively contribute to the department and the Berklee community, fostering an inclusive learning space that supports all students regardless of their background and identity. This part-time position reports to the chair of the Contemporary Writing and Production Department in the Professional Writing and Music Technology Division.Responsibilities:
Interested in learning more about this job Scroll down and find out what skills, experience and educational qualifications are needed.The primary responsibility for this position is to teach Vocal Writing courses in the Contemporary Writing and Production Major, which focuses on writing and production techniques for vocal ensembles of different sizes and configurations in various contemporary music styles, including vocals with rhythm section, background vocals in a large ensemble, and a capella groups.Experience and Qualifications:Significant past and current professional experience as a composer and arranger for contemporary vocal ensembles of different sizes and configurations in a variety of contemporary music styles, including vocals with rhythm section, background vocals in a large ensemble, and a capella groups
Relevant music production experience working with vocalists in professional recording studio environments and live performances
Experience singing and directing contemporary vocal ensembles
Experience in preparing high-quality vocal scores using notation software
Experience recording and producing vocals using Digital Audio Workstations
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
A willingness to adhere to an established curriculum and to prepare course content and supplemental materials
An interest in working in a diverse workplace with a multicultural multi-talented student body
Bachelor's Degree in Music or equivalent professional experience
Experience teaching contemporary vocal writing preferred
Start date:This is a part-time faculty position with an expected start date of September 1, 2024.
