The College of Built Environments has an exciting opening for an

Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications . This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications leads the successful development, implementation, management and evaluation of multi-channel marketing campaigns to increase awareness, engagement and philanthropic support for the College of Built Environments and its five departments. The Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications is a member of the College of Built Environments Advancement team and reports to the College’s Director of Marketing & Communications.

What You Will Do:

Content marketing (30%)• Lead the planning, creation, distribution and evaluation of content, including repurposing content, to grow relationships, resources and reputation.• Work with subject matter experts and stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff and researchers to write and edit content for target audiences and translate topics into compelling stories.• Partner with Development and Events staff to develop content that amplifies and advances fundraising objectives and efforts.• Develop key messages to showcase the College and department's strengths and find innovative methods to promote content to target audiences.• Oversee the creation, implementation and maintenance of an editorial (big picture) and content (day to day) calendar.• Collaborate with colleagues across the University, including University Marketing & Communications, UW News, External Affairs and others to increase the visibility and reach of College content on UW channels and in the media.

Email marketing (25%)• Lead the planning, creation, distribution and evaluation of email marketing campaigns to increase awareness, engagement and promote College initiatives.• Execute email marketing and lead-generation campaigns, including list segmentation, pre-deployment testing and integration/optimization.

Project intake & management (20%)• Manage and maintain the Marketing & Communications project management system.• Oversee the intake of Marketing and Communications projects, including acknowledging receipt of requests via the intake form and facilitating the handoff to appropriate team members for next steps.• Meet with clients to determine the scope, resources and budget estimate for projects.• Streamline processes and optimize project workflows to ensure responsiveness and thorough follow-through, achieving efficient coordination and successful project or task completion.• Regularly review and update documentation to reflect changes in processes or best practices.• Cultivate relationships with the College’s five departments and research team to coordinate efforts that ensure synergistic, comprehensive and consistent marketing and communications activities.

Marketing campaign strategy, implementation, management & reporting (20%)• Work with the Director for Marketing and Communications to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications plan that supports the College’s strategic plan.• Execute short- and long-term strategic marketing plans to hit key performance indicators, evaluating performance and advising on strategy adjustments.• Oversee the digital strategy, including the development, tracking and optimization of marketing campaigns across digital channels.• Oversee a dashboard that generates actionable recommendations to focus marketing spend, discover root causes for performance disparities from the plan, and drive change for improvement.• Develop and deliver standard cadence of reports and analysis to key internal audiences.

Other duties as assigned (5%)

What You Bring:• Experience with content creation through various channels and mediums.• Experience implementing marketing campaigns, including email marketing campaigns.• Strong project management skills with a detail-oriented and process-driven approach.• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.• Familiarity with project management platforms, such as Asana.• Experience leveraging metrics and data to strategically shape marketing efforts.• Demonstrated experience with creative tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.• Demonstrated ability to develop communications that are aligned with the College's core values of equity, social justice and anti-racism.

Minimum Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field and at least three years of experience in marketing, communications or a related field.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

What You Can Expect:• Some evening and weekend hours are required, as necessary, with notice.• Physical event support will be required, including setup, tear-down and 4+ hours of walking/standing.
