DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will actively participate in and have independent judgment responsibility within the Intercollegiate Athletics Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) program at the University of Washington for all ICA athletic teams. The position will report to the NIL Executive Director and require leadership and decision-making aptitude to allow for success under dual reporting structures with general direction under the Deputy Athletic Director for External Relations and Deputy Athletic Director for Revenue Generation and in collaboration with other creative and digital team members.

The Creative Content & Design Specialist for Lifestyle and Influencer Marketing is primarily responsible for creating, ideating and executing a strategic approach for creative communications, multimedia and branding with a unique focus on digital and social media content in graphic design and mobile video creation specific to student-athlete lifestyle and influencer marketing experiences in UW’s NIL framework.

This individual has a range of responsibilities, which include lifestyle and action photography, video content creative (filming and editing), graphic design creative, social media engagement on official platforms, customer service, writing, and event management. The position advances the team through execution of goal development, collaboration and adherence to protocol as well as exemplary service and attention to detail in order to ensure that the organization is proactively servicing all audiences.

Creative Content Creation (85%)

Uses independent judgment and creative technical knowledge to create high-level photo and video content that must appeal to a wide range of audiences and demonstrate expert understanding of the unique needs of each social and digital media platform.

Responsible for creating content and managing a broad communications strategy for 22 individual sports programs as well as the main Athletics digital platforms and in collaboration with UW multimedia rights partners, other collaborative partners, and Big Ten affiliates.

Create and reinforce strategic social media plans across the department and collaborate with major industry partners such as Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter and emerging platforms for cross-collaborative campaigns.

Partner with content staff to support the creation and execution of social and digital media strategies that enhance student-athlete influencer marketing opportunities within UW’s NIL framework, as well as support evergreen content, branding, and recruiting efforts.

Lead one-on-one advising sessions with football student-athletes on branding and influencer activities. Provide education on a variety of topics, including brand management, NCAA rules, and ICA NIL policy.

Stay updated on the latest NIL trends, including legislative advancements, NCAA and Big Ten compliance regulations, agent and vendor landscape evolutions.

Participate in virtual and in-person recruiting meetings.

Project Management (15%)

Communicate and collaborate with ICA staff to ensure appropriate monitoring of NIL activities related to eligibility and activities.

Liaison with UW Marketing and Communications regarding University marks issues.

Management of social app onboarding for student-athletes in collaboration with ICA content strategy staff.

Other duties may also be assigned.

Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Big Ten Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience in athletic creative fields.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

In-depth knowledge of digital, social, and current communications platforms; must be active in social media.

Exceptional video shooting on a wide variety of devices and editing skills on professional programs.

Familiarity with a range of industry creative platforms to capture video from live broadcasts and other repositories.

Exceptional Adobe platform skills.

Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing social media campaigns and creative.

Demonstrated track record of brand implementation campaigns across complex organizations.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously along difficult timelines.

Proven ability to learn quickly, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and to skillfully distill/synthesize emerging information to senior level staff.

High level of personal integrity and ethics.

Demonstrated commitment to promoting and supporting an environment of diversity and inclusion.

Ability to work nights and weekends.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Passion for intercollegiate athletics and an intuitive sense of trends in the digital and social marketplaces.

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, video, communications, sport marketing, journalism or related field.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with a high level of energy, charisma, enthusiasm, creativity and to be professional, yet able to have fun in the workplace.

Ability to work as a member of a high performing team.
