Engineering Graduate
to join our Land Development and Municipal Engineering Team, located at our Owen Sound office. Reporting to the Manager, this position will be responsible for the execution of a variety of
road, water, wastewater and storm design
tasks, such as site servicing and feasibility studies, stormwater management and grading design, technical design production, reporting, proposal writing, field inspection, and project management for municipal, private, First Nation engineering and land development projects. The opportunity will have a focus on
local projects within Owen Sound and surrounding areas, with some opportunity for work at more northern Ontario communities and First Nations.

What you can expect to do here:
Assist in engineering design assignments for road, stormwater, water and wastewater infrastructure, working both independently and in a team environment;
Participate in the development of concept, preliminary and detailed engineering drawings, designs and plans;
Participate in the preparation of design briefs and applications (MECP, etc.) for approvals;
Support in preparing construction cost estimates and quantities, specifications and contract documents, tendering, shop drawing review and construction administration;
Support and complete infield construction inspections on projects and resolving construction issues with the assistance of project managers and field supervisors;
Assist project managers with quality monitoring, including scope review, budgeting,
and scheduling;
Support in the review and completion of construction record drawings; and
Provide assistance to project managers and office manager with other day to day project operations.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering from an accredited Canadian university;
0 to 5 years of engineering experience in land development and municipal engineering;
General design knowledge of roads and highways, site servicing including storm, sanitary and water, grading and drainage, and stormwater management;
Interested and willing to obtain a sound knowledge of engineering standards, principals, practices and techniques including reference guidelines and design manuals used in land development and municipal engineering projects;
Interested and willing to obtain a comprehensive knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS) and Ontario Provincial Standard Drawings (OPSD);
Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and a general understanding of the software design capabilities;
Excellent MS Word and Excel abilities;
Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications;
Ability to take initiative and attention to detail;
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities;
Ability to work in a team environment, and also working independently in both an office, home and field environments; and a
Valid Ontario driver’s license.
