Position Summary: The PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) Administrator is responsible for the management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the PACS system and related technologies. This role ensures the efficient operation of the PACS system, supports radiologists and other clinical staff, and ensures the integrity and productivity of our medical imaging environment. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Provide direct PACS support to radiologists and other medical professionals. Manage and maintain our primary PACS system in collaboration with vendors and strategic partners. Assist with managing, supporting, interfacing or training on various PACS systems used by groups with whom we have contractual reading relationships. Troubleshoot and resolve PACS-related issues promptly. Coordinate with radiologists, technologists, IT and Health Information Management staff to ensure seamless operation of the PACS system. Monitor system performance and implement improvements as needed. Provide training and support to end-users on PACS functionalities. Maintain documentation related to PACS operations, policies, procedures, and configurations. Import and export medical images to and from PACS via physical media and various image-sharing networks on a daily basis. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Flexibility of hours required as the business needs demand. There will also be a need to work weekends on some occasions to meet deadlines and maximize system uptime. Reconcile and troubleshoot daily report distribution to referring physicians. Monitor and communicate unread/unreconciled exams to clinical teams on a daily basis. Implement new PACS systems and functionality. Monitor and administer all PACS related portals. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: In-depth knowledge of PACS systems and related technologies. Familiarity with image-sharing networks such as Nuance PowerShare, Ambra Health, and Connie. Able to create and troubleshoot DICOM connections between PACS, image-sharing gateways, medical imaging equipment, and others. Familiarity with digital dictation and reporting systems, including Nuance PowerScribe. Ability to create and update reporting templates in collaboration with clinical personnel. Awareness of implementing AI algorithms in a clinical imaging workflow. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Possess a valid CT Driver's License and insurance. Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Radiologic Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Certifications such as Certified DICOM Integration Professional (CDIP), Certified PACS Associate (CPAS), or Certified PACS System Analyst (CPSA), appreciated. Physical demands/Working Conditions: Work is performed in a diagnostic imaging office environment. Work may require sitting or standing for long periods of times; also be able to position self to stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, crouch, and stretch as required. Ability to routinely lift equipment or supplies weighing up to 60 pounds. Requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate a keyboard. It will also require operating other office equipment as necessary. Interaction with physicians, office staff and patients is constant.
