Senior Data Engineer
to join our growing
Cloud Operations Team
at the
Herndon or Chantilly, VA
location.
The Cloud Operations Team provides end-to-end cloud solutions for workloads in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle, enhancing the Customer’s mission through innovation, speed, agility, security, and resiliency.
Responsibilities:Designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that supports the collection, storage, and analysis of large datasets.
Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure that data pipelines are efficient, reliable, and scalable.
Integrating diverse data sources, implementing data governance and security practices, and ensuring data quality across the organization.
Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
9+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, or Java.
Experience with data warehousing, data lakes, and big data technologies (e.g., AWS Redshift, Databricks, Google BigQuery, Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark).
Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend, Informatica).
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle) and their data services.
Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, MongoDB).
Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data quality tools (e.g., Apache Atlas, Collibra, Alation).
Familiarity with data security and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST framework).
Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with real-time data streaming and processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Flink, Kinesis).
Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Developer, Azure Developer Associate, or Google Professional Cloud Developer.
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with agile development methodologies.
Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
Clearance Requirements:TS/SCI with polygraph
Physical Requirements:Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time
Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer
The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
