VCA Staten Island Animal Hospital has an opportunity available for an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our full service Hospital in Staten Island, NY as a Technician Supervisor. We are a 2 doctor general practice that has served the community for 30+ years. Our hospital care for companion and exotic patients. We are looking for a devoted individual that is committed to providing a high standard of patient care and client service.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate and encourage professionalism in the workplace. They will also be expected to help guide the technical support staff, provide mentorship while helping employees grow within the hospital. Advanced communication skills and the ability to keep their team informed and focused is a must. The successful candidate will share our commitment to delivering the highest quality patient care with exceptional client service.
The ideal candidate meets the following requirements:
Licensed veterinary technician with a minimum of five years technical experience, and 2 years supervisory/management experience preferredProfessional demeanor and appearance, excellent interpersonal skills, and a positive, friendly attitudeAbility to plan, organize, make decisions, and communicate effectively and clearly with fellow team members, clients and doctors.Able to handle multiple tasks at once, and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing prioritiesMust be able to work full-time hours, flexibility a must, including occasional holidays.Strong medical skills In the supervisor role your responsibilities will include but not but not limited toDirecting workflow on the floorHelp with the interview process for potential new hiresTechnician SchedulingAssists in staffing and coverage where neededAssists in the educational development of technicians and their skillsAssists in basic protocol and standard procedure trainingProvide opportunities for staff to gain more firsthand experienceMentoring technicians within the departmentWorking with department doctors to develop protocols to improve the service Ensure that VCA polices, guidelines, and recommendations are implemented by all members of the technical staff.
This position is a working supervisory position. We want you to use the skills you have gained over your years in the profession and help you to continue to grow!
The pay range for this position is $28-$32 /hour based on experience.
