What you’ll need to succeed as a Project Manager, Technology at XPO
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- 1 year of experience as an IT Project Manager and combined experience below:
- Proven experience managing multiple, concurrent, IT projects within budget and scope.
- Proven experience managing the acquisition process to obtain goods and services required for the project, such as procurement planning, RFI/RFP preparation, source selection and administration
- Superior written and verbal communication skills in customer settings and with internal senior management. Solid active listening, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrates group presentation skills and excellent negotiation skills to deal effectively with individuals and groups within and outside the organization.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with project management disciplines, methodologies and life cycles
Preferred qualifications:
- 4+ years as an IT Project Manager
- Cross functional business experience including one or more of the following: technical project management, transportation management and IT solutions development.
- Understanding of economics, mathematics, and Machine Learning/AI
- Direct project management experience on medium to large IT projects with large projects. This includes working within a defined project management methodology and standard practices.
- Experience working within Revenue Management, Pricing, and/or Sales related technology and platforms
- PMP certification
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Solid problem-solving and analytical skills
- Able to adapt to various situations while simultaneously prioritizing multiple projects

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Oversee the development roadmap and execution of deliverables on high visibility software engineering projects
- Support a team in building and maintaining dynamic pricing and agreement management systems in a fast paced environment
- Act as the key project manager to facilite the design, development, and implementation of dynamic pricing engines as well as Agreement & Tariff Management systems for XPO’s Less-than-Truckload systems; ensuring applications are delivered timely, cost effectively, and with a high degree of quality. You’ll work closely with peer managers, customers, vendors, senior management, related development teams, and other stakeholders.
- Create project plans and monitor the project teams’ execution through the project lifecycle. Control project scope and enforce deadlines. Manage project dependencies, risks, and escalate to management when needed
- Maintain key project documents and provide clear verbal/written communication to Technology Managers/Business Stakeholders
- Collaborate with upstream and downstream Technology and business teams to identify and document use cases, performance and capability requirements, and criteria for successful solution delivery
- Operational ownership of projects and systems which includes leading initiatives of various size in capacity and resource planning, project plans, project tracking, status reporting and actively influencing work efforts
- Drives continuous improvement efforts and fosters innovation throughout all team activities
- Provide leadership in change management through project management disciplines
- Advocate for continuous process improvement
- Cultivate communications and collaborative support with all departments and team members
- Oversee on-site implementation efforts; create and maintain project schedules and commitments including actions, owners and timeline expectations
- Provide weekly updates to the team; routinely update management with an accurate and valid status of each milestone
- Guide project meetings with both internal and external customers
- Ensure the success of each project
